Chainwheel Knife Valves are
used where a manually operated valve is required but,
generally, where the valve itself is located too high above an
operator floor for a handwheel to be reached.
The chain (similar to those used on roller shutter
doors) is wrapped around the outside of the chainwheel and then
welded into a continuous loop. Pull one side of the chain loop
and the chainwheel screws the spindle and gate up into the open
position, pull the other side of the loop and the chainwheel forces
the gate closed.
Our VG Chainwheel Knife Gate
Valves share the same parts as our solidly
designed rising spindle handwheel operated valve but with the
handwheel replaced by a cast iron chainwheel. Because the
operator can be remote from the valve these are often fitted with
end of travel switches to indicate the position. All VG
Knife Valves are supplied with the
supports pre-drilled to accept our ranges of indicator switches.
